We are thrilled to share that we will be brining legendary storyteller, Monty Python icon, and world‑travelling documentarian Michael Palin to the UEA on Thursday 28 May at 6:30pm. He will be in conversation with arts editor Nina Nannar. This special event dives into his latest book: a vivid, gripping journal of his journey across Nigeria, written as he approached his 80th birthday and decided he wasn’t quite ready to “take it easy” after all.
The book explored the chaotic energy of Lagos, to the quiet, hyper‑modern streets of Abuja, Palin captures a nation of staggering contrasts. He meets emirs, preachers, kidnap survivors, and everyday citizens whose stories illuminate the beauty, complexity, and contradictions of Africa’s most populous country.
Brimming with colour photographs, sharp insight, and Palin’s trademark warmth and wit, this will be an incredible book to explore.
Please note there will be a small book signing planned after the event
