About this Event
This one-day course will introduce you to the basics of metal fabrication processes, including MIG welding and tube bending, to create a contemporary piece of furniture. Cut lengths of mild steel tubing using the cold saw, then with the metal bender you will create the curves to form the stool shape. Learn about the centre-line radius to ensure accuracy and equal dimensions. You will learn how to use a jig and weld the sections together to create your stool, then apply a range of finishing techniques to the steel frame.
Finish by adding a beautiful plywood seat. By the end of the day you will take away a sturdy, stylish stool for your home or office, plus an understanding of metal preparation and fabrication. This course is perfect for beginners or anyone keen to start working with metal. The day will be led by Richard Evans, an experienced metal fabricator and designer.
Please wear appropriate clothing for welding. We recommend leather shoes/work boots and jeans or similar fabric. No shorts or trainers.
