This remarkable 2-day conference ends with the MedGlobal annual Gala Dinner on Saturday October 5th, from 6:30- 9:30 PM. The evening will be filled with an incredible lineup of performers, speakers, and a very special guest to be announced soon. We will be presenting our 2024 MedGlobal Awards to inspiring humanitarian champions and advocates who embody the MedGlobal mission to improve local health systems, support vulnerable communities, and respond to humanitarian crises including in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and Syria. It will be a special black-tie affair to network with community and invest in the transformational impact MedGlobal is leading globally.

Ready to respond? Medical Mission and Disaster Response Training
MedGlobal responds to conflicts and climate disasters by creating agile teams of medical, humanitarian, and operational experts that can quickly deploy and implement needs-based responses and by establishing partnerships with communities, health providers, and local and international institutions. MedGlobal is developing its emergency response capacity including growing relevant human resources including staff and creating a volunteer roster of medical and logistical experts that are on-call for emergencies. MedGlobal is building a roster of on-call professionals trained and ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes to save lives and reduce suffering.
"Ready to Respond? Ready to respond? Medical Mission and Disaster Response Training" is a one-day in-person training course designed for volunteers who have served or aspire to serve in MedGlobal’s medical missions and disaster response efforts. This program equips participants with the essential skills, knowledge, and mindset required to effectively and safely contribute in emergency situations and medical outreach programs.
The training will discuss decisions to respond, key trends in disaster response, disaster phases, disaster response mentality, sectors of response including health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene and food security along with team structure, mandates and dealing with the international community.
Training Course Objectives:
- To prepare volunteers for the unique challenges of medical missions and disaster response.
- To provide essential training in emergency medical care, disaster management, and logistical coordination.
- To train volunteers on how to serve with MedGlobal
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Summarize the organizational structure of MedGlobal’s disaster response system.
- Understand the “disaster response mentality”.
- Demonstrate key responsibilities for success in each response role.
- Comprehend the humanitarian context and UN coordination mechanisms in disasters.
- Exhibit working knowledge of rapid assessment used in emergencies.
- Better understand the expectations of living and working in a complex disaster environment
- Comprehend medical response specifics
- Understand differences between standard and sufficient care.
- Understand the need and use of triage methodology in emergencies
Training Course Methodology: The training methodology will be a combination of lectures, didactic exercise, videos, role plays, group discussions and question and answer approaches.
Who Should Participate: Medical professionals who currently volunteer with MedGlobal or who are interested in volunteering with MedGlobal on missions and in disaster response, students interested in humanitarian response.
