Matilda Johnston is currently in her second year of a Master of Arts degree at the Royal Academy of Music, where she studies with Richard Pinel. She previously completed a Bachelor of Music (Hons) at the Academy and has been supported by several scholarships throughout her studies.
Alongside her postgraduate degree, Matilda holds the position of John Birch Organ Scholar at All Saints, Margaret Street, London. She also serves as Organist at St Anthony’s School for Boys where she combines organ duties with piano teaching.
Matilda is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists and holds the LRAM (Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music). She has performed recitals across the UK including St Michael Cornhill, Keble College Oxford, St George’s Hanover Square, Westminster Central Hall, and St Wulfram’s Parish Church.
Matilda is a former Organ Scholar with the Young Organ Scholars’ Trust and now acts as an ambassador for the organisation, supporting and inspiring emerging talent. Collaborative projects have included work with Multitude of Voyces and St Wulfram’s Church Choir, recording new hymn settings by women composers on contemporary themes.
A recent highlight of her engagements was performing with the Purcell Singers at St John Smith Square celebrating Arvo Pärt. Alongside her solo and liturgical work, Matilda is also an active chamber musician, appearing regularly with her flute and organ duo, Silver Pipework.
