Today's Mayfair Organ Concert is given by Jason Tang (Royal Acadmey of Music), who will be performing the following programme:

Jason Tang graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Hons.) degree with first-class honours from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied organ performance with Prof. David Titterington under full scholarship. He is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the Academy with Prof. Titterington, where his studies are generously supported by the Royal Academy of Music, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, The Eric Thompson Trust, The Champniss Foundation, Help Musicians, and the ABRSM, of which he is currently a scholar.

At the Academy, Jason has participated in masterclasses with Bine Bryndorf, Paul Goussot, David Hill MBE, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Thierry Escaich, Daniel Roth, and Dong-Ill Shin; and worked under conductors including John Wilson, Jonathon Heyward, and Rachel Podger. He has achieved top marks in his undergraduate recital and has been awarded major prizes, most notably the Regency Award for ‘all-round contributionand achievement’, Sir Elton John Award, Stephen Bicknell Prize, The Timothy Bowers Academic Achievement Award. Jason also won first prizes in the Dorothy Cooper Organ Prize in 2022 and the Peter le Huray Organ Prize for Baroque Music in 2024; he also holds the LRAM teaching diploma from the Academy, and is a prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

Prior to his studies at the Academy, Jason was one of six participants admitted to the 52nd International Organ Festival Haarlem Young Talent Programme in 2018. In this programme, he had the privilege of studying with renowned organ professors, including Leo van Doeselaar, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Vincent Thévanez, Ben van Oosten, and Louis Robilliard.

Jason has held organ scholarships at St. Mary’s, Bourne Street, Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair and Christ Church, Spitalfields. Recent and forthcoming engagements include recitals at Klosters Music Festival; St. Albans International Organ Festival; Neresheim Abbey; Westminster Central Hall; Bromley Parish Church; St. George’s Hanover Square, London; Church of Notre Dame de France RC, London; Cathedral Basilica of St. Bavo, Haarlem; Korskirken, Bergen; St John’s Cathedral, Hong Kong; and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Besides his concert engagements, Jason is also interested in musicological research, his work Examining Tudorism in Herbert Howells’ works, with a case study on Master Tallis’s Testament (1940) is published by Organists’ Review in September 2025; and he is currently researching on French Organ School pedagogy in the 20th century for his MMus project.
