Master & Protégé : A Tribute to Haydn & Mozart
Join us in person for an unforgettable evening celebrating the genius of Haydn and Mozart!
One of the greatest Master & Protégé pairs in musical history, Hadyn and Mozart shared a great respect for each other, particularly Haydn for the younger Mozart.
We celebrate with a program honouring these two legends:
KCSO begins the evening with Haydn's Symphony No 1- a dazzling and complex work, especially considering it is his first symphony!
We explore the effervescent opening movement of Haydn's Cello Concerto in D, performed by Junyi Summer Li. Joy Cha-Kang performs the brilliant first movement of Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 4, and Aidan Cheng shares the exquisitely musical first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17.
Finishing the evening is Junkyu Park, KCSO's principal cellist, with a commanding performance of Haydn Cello Concerto in C in its entirity.
The Salvation Army Church provides an intimate setting for these classical-era works to be enjoyed in close proximity between performers and audience.
Junyi Summer Li and Joy Cha-Kang are winners of the 15 & under category of the 2026 KCSO Classical Concerto Auditions.
Aidan Cheng is a winner of the 16+ category of the 2026 KCSO Classical Concerto Auditions.
