Film industry strategist, Michaelangelo Masangkay, will deliver a 3-hour masterclass on the strategies and logistics of international marketing and distribution for films as part of the Siné Institute Industry Conference.


Event Details:

Siné Institute Industry Conference is an all-day event holding six masterclasses from industry veterans to support film makers on their journey. As part of the Siné Institute Industry Conference, Michaelangelo Masangkay will be holding a masterclass at George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus, on March 5th between 5pm and 8pm.Through this masterclass with Michaelangelo Masangkay, attendees will learn how to navigate the global marketplace. From developing targeted international marketing campaigns, securing distribution deals, to understanding regional regulatory requirements, Michaelangelo shares his knowledge and insights on maximizing a film's global reach.

Speaker:

Michaelangelo Masangkay is a multifaceted creative executive with over a decade of leadership across Canada’s film, media, and arts education sectors. He is the Founder and President of the Siné Institute and Clever Creature Inc., organizations dedicated to empowering new voices in film, television, microdramas and immersive narratives. Since 2023, he has grown Siné into a key platform for emerging talent, culminating in the success of the annual Siné Film Fest.

His production credits include the popular Netflix romantic drama MAPLE LEAF DREAMS by Benedict Mique, which he line produced in 2023, and his first feature film as producer, the actioner TOPAKK by Richard V. Somes, which premiered to international acclaim at the Locarno Film Festival in 2024.

He currently serves as Director of Production at Toronto Film School, where he’s spent over 10 years mentoring the next generation of filmmakers and overseeing all productions within the programs for Film Production, Acting and Writing. Previously, Michaelangelo played pivotal roles at Raven Banner Entertainment as General Manager, managing global sales, strategy, and festival outreach for genre films, and as Associate Producer with Hangar 18 Media. With a foundation in marketing and international sales from earlier roles at Cinemavault and World Distribution, Michaelangelo brings a strategic, audience-focused approach to every project.

In addition to his work in film and education, he co-founded Top Drone Inc., an RPAS service provider catering to Northern Ontario industries, and was a founding member of Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, directing operations and logistics.


A skilled leader with deep roots in creative advocacy, Michaelangelo blends artistic vision with operational expertise to build platforms that spotlight underrepresented stories and talent.
