Margo May is a singer-songwriter and producer who fuses soulful vibes with folky acoustic pop. Her honest storytelling and lush musical delivery makes Margo a standout. Originally from Kansas City, Margo grew up singing 90s pop alternative, admiring Alanis Moirisette’s dynamic vocals and raw lyrics she then learned guitar and piano. She fell in love with the storytelling lyrical stylings of folk singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, while being inspired with pop musicians such as Lana Del Rey and Mazzy Star. In her music Margo pairs a soulful vocal approach with vivid folk-inspired lyrics in her catchy and dynamic pop tunes.
Margo was a contestant on season 9 of American Idol, making it in to the top 50, with Simon Cowell describing her as “an original talent, with a stand out indie voice.” Among other accomplishments Margo has played various venues across the country, including CMJ festival in New York City, and Austin’s SXSW. Her song “Wake” was featured in Season 4 of ‘Dance Moms,’ and her song “Blue Shoes,” was featured on season 2 of ‘Dead To Me.’ Margo now resides in Los Angeles and continues to write and produce her music.
