This March, we’re diving into the bold, brilliant and completely mad world of Motherfaker... which is a sharp, hilarious novel about burnout, desperation and the lengths one woman will go to in order to reclaim her life.
Join us for a cosy evening of big laughs, honest conversations and though provoking discussion as we explore a story that’s as outrageous as it is relatable ✨
📖 About the book:
Meet Barri Brown. Respected teacher. Upstanding citizen of Guernsey. Down for a bit of law-breaking . . .
After years of overworking and always putting others first, Barri hits breaking point when her husband disappears...along with her savings. Her solution? Fake a pregnancy and use paid maternity leave to start over somewhere new.
Armed with foam bumps, smock dresses and a dangerously ambitious plan, Barri just has to pull off the ultimate heist without getting caught. Simple… right?
On a small island like Guernsey, it’s anything but!! and when her fake pregnancy leads to real human connection, Barri is forced to confront the emotional cost of the lie she’s telling.
