The documentary follows a Ukrainian family divided by war and offers a powerful narrative of resilience, displacement, and the transformative power of art in times of crisis. It tells a deeply human story of friendship between two mothers—one Ukrainian, one Polish—whose bond is forged during the first months of displacement. Told through the lens of a refugee mother, the film amplifies the voices of displaced Ukrainian women and children, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, love and kindness continue to speak.
Mama’s Voice premiered at the LA Femme International Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it received an Honourable Mention Award. It was later selected for the New Jersey Film Festival and the 6th IDFF Artdocfest/Riga, and has been screened at leading universities, including Columbia University, University of Toronto, Western University, McGill University, University of Ottawa, and University of Notre Dame.
Most recently, the film received the Best Documentary Award at the Osaka Horizon International Film Festival, was selected for the Montreal Independent Film Festival, was named a semi-finalist at the Tokyo Women Film Festival, and was nominated for both the Toronto Women Film Festival and the Chicago Women Film Festival.
