It's almost that time of year again! The sixth annual Big Gay BBQ™ will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026! The location is the same as last year: Lower Hume Park Picnic Area in New Westminster. There is a large shelter and many tables, and the event will proceed rain or shine! Please ensure you include the word "LOWER" when searching in your maps app to direct you! The picnic area is on the NORTH end of the park, where Columbia Street becomes North Road! We also have a detailed map available on our website!
But there is one thing that will be different this year! After 5 years, I finally managed to convince the rest of the committee members that no one wants to eat a beef burger for breakfast! Park bookings are available in two slots: morning and evening. For the last 5 years we have booked the morning slot. But this year we are finally moving to the evening slot! That means we will be able to serve you DINNER! Swing by the park any time between 4pm and 8pm! (16:00-20:00 for you nerds).
As always, the food is "free" by donation! Any amount you choose, 100% of proceeds are donated to QMUNITY! We always have LOTS of food, so the event is "AYCE" as long as you make a donation!
