About this Event

On Tuesday, March 3rd, our founder and editor, Julia Gamolina, will be in conversation with the Central Park Conservancy's President and CEO Betsy Smith and Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture and Design's Susan Rodriguez, on the revisioning of the Davis Center facility, its integration with the historic framework envisioned by Olmsted and Vaux, and the new seasonal recreational experiences.

The Speakers:

Betsy Smith, Central Park Conservancy: Betsy Smith has served as President & CEO of the Central Park Conservancy since 2018, guiding the Conservancy in its efforts to preserve Central Park’s essential purpose as a retreat from the pressures of City life, and to elevate the profile of the Conservancy as the Park’s primary steward and an anchor institution critical to the health and vibrancy of the City. Smith is now focused on establishing a sustainable plan for the long term health of both the Park and the Conservancy. Her vision for the Park includes plans to mitigate the effects of climate change, a commitment to financial sustainability,and overall excellence in the Conservancy’s holistic stewardship of the Park.

Susan Rodriguez, Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture and Design: Susan T. Rodriguez designs at the intersection of architecture and the public realm to create buildings and spacesthat distill the essence of cultures and communities. Her award-winning work is recognized internationally for its contributionto the vitality of cities and landscapes, and the civic, cultural and educational institutions they serve. She was elected to the National Academy of Design in 2025 and is a recipient of the Design Leader Award from Architectural Record for the for the breadth and impact of her built work over the last four decades. She founded Susan T Rodriguez | Architecture · Design in 2017, combining more than thirty years of design leadership with a passionate belief in the power of architecture to affect change and improve the quality of life for all. Prior to establishing an independent practice,Ms. Rodriguez was a founding Design Partner in Ennead Architects (formerlyPolshek Partnership).

Moderator - Julia Gamolina, Madame Architect: Julia Gamolina is the Founder and Editor of Madame Architect, a boutique media and events platform focused on the extraordinary women that shape our world. Trained as an architect herself and with over a dozen years of experience across all aspects of design, business development, and communications, Julia is also an Associate Principal at Ennead Architects. Her writing has been featured in A Women's Thing, Fast Company, Metropolis Magazine, and the Architect's Newspaper. In 2024 and 2023, Julia was listed in Wallpaper*'s Creative America, a list of the people defining the creative landscape of the US.
