On Saturday, 7 March 2026, the London Youlan Qin Society will hold its 161st yaji gathering.

This informal salon brings together guqin and friends of Chinese music. We gather to meet through music and to cultivate the mind through sound. The yaji will be open to all qin and music friends. Music will be played in an open-mic format, besides other cultural activities. There will also be an inclusion of other activities alongside the above events.

In support of the Society’s activities and community, membership application and renewal are open as part of this event.

Even though Covid-19 restrictions have been largely lifted, we advise everyone to be cautious. DO NOT ATTEND IN PERSON if you test positive for Covid or are displaying Covid symptoms. It is everyone's responsibility to keep everyone else safe and healthy.

GENERAL INFO

Please do not post or perform material that is inappropriate, abusive, unlawful, disruptive, or completely unrelated to the yaji or guqin music: failure to comply will result in being kicked out of the meeting immediately and (if applicable) disciplinary action for members. The hosts and moderators have the right to use to their discretion to maintain order within the meeting by muting and expelling any participant or audience member without warning for not complying with the rules set out or causing disruptive behaviour.

Privacy disclaimer: by participating in performance in this yaji, you in effect agree to being recorded or screen-shot, and to the recorded material and/or images being used by the Society to promote or advance its aims (for use outside this scope, the society will always ask for individual permissions before doing so or provide the reason in advance). If you disagree with this you must either tell us in advance so we can exclude you from any edited clips, or not actively participate in performing (esp. for livestreamed events where it is not possible to redact live footage), etc. Audience members not participating and who do not wish to be recorded/screenshot must turn their video and sound feed off and not use their actual name (it is their responsibility to do this as we cannot do these for them).

MEMBERSHIP INFO

Existing members are reminded that they may renew their membership directly on EB, or via another method.

Non-members may join the LYQS before the yaji by filling in the application form and paying their dues. You may also apply for or renew your membership now by paying the membership dues on EB and then filling out the online application form by requesting it from the Secretary.

It is strongly encouraged that membership fees and renewals be settled no later than the day before the event. This is so we have time to send you the email and details about the event as we would be busy on the day and may not have time to monitor EB for late subscription confirmations, etc. If you do this after the deadline, you must contact us directly to inform us of your actions so we are aware.

Non-member fees are now re-introduced at £8 per yaji from March 2024. First time is free.

Please note: paying via EB incurs its own fees in addition to our membership rates. If you do not wish to pay these fees you must apply/renew via another method agreed with the Secretary during the application process BEFORE THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

Overseas membership applications and renewal subscription fee payments should be done via EB as it is quicker and easier to process than via PayPal.
