About this Event
TheSystemDontWork continues the Community Listening Sessions series with the Atlanta edition celebrating the release of Lumpen Proletariat, the new album from NE$$ & Baby J.
After recent listening sessions in Brooklyn and Miami, the series now lands in Atlanta for an evening centered around experiencing the album front to back in the room the way it was meant to be heard.
NE$$ will briefly speak on the ideas and inspiration behind the project before the playback begins.
This is not a traditional performance show. The focus is on the music, the message, and the collective listening experience.
The evening will also feature a special guest appearance from Atlanta artist Melaphyre, who recently released his project DiASPORA, a globally inspired remix concept blending elements of Roots Reggae, Afrobeat, Ska, and diasporic musical traditions.
This listening session is also part of the Sound Exhibit series — an ongoing program highlighting albums through an artful presentation of music in intimate spaces.
Artists, DJs, press, and real Hip-Hop listeners from the community will all be in the room.
And yes… it happens to fall on Friday the 13th. But this isn’t spooky.
Just real rap.
