About this Event
We are delighted to announce that Aidan Monks and Catherine Connor, founders of Lovingly Artisan, will be hosting a Sourdough Masterclass at Altrincham Town Hall as part of the town's Taste of Altrincham celebrations. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Bounceback Food CIC, a local non-profit that distributes nutritious meals to foodbanks & sheltered accommodation sites across the North West.
Aidan and Catherine can't wait to share their passion for bread craftsmanship with you! The event will include an approx. 45-minute talk, Q&A for all your baking questions and time at the end to distribute portions of Lovingly Artisan's 35+ year old starter for all attendees.
Come along and learn about why we use ancient grains, how to make and maintain your sourdough starter and how to bake sourdough successfully. Come prepared with a list of questions and your baking challenges!
You will leave with:
- A portion of Lovingly Artisan's 35+ year old starter
- A collection of notes and a sourdough recipe
- New friends and like-minded baker pals!
This masterclass is perfect for breadmakers and foodies of all ages and levels of ability!
During this masterclass, Aidan and Catherine will share why being a true and wholesome artisan matters. It not only impacts the taste of the bread you eat, but more importantly, the impact those bites of bread have on your well-being, gut-health and immunity. Sourdough is far from a fad; it’s a considered lifestyle choice, a choice hundreds of consumers are making. Have you ever wondered why?
Manufactured loaves can make you feel sick, bloated, and tired; Aidan will demystify the differences between sourdough and factory-baked bread - exploring with you the importance of ingredients, wholesome flours and blending seeds and grains with nutritional values in mind.
Join Aidan & Catherine on Saturday 7th March at Altrincham Town Hall and leave inspired with a notepad filled with a wealth of information, a portion of Lovingly Artisan's 35+ year old starter and answers on all things sourdough!
Help raise vital funds for Bounceback Food CIC
Bounceback Food CIC is a social enterprise fighting food poverty on multiple fronts. Since 2014 our Community Cookery School teams have been teaching people how to cook, helping people get jobs in the food sector and coordinating community meal drives that provide emergency meals for our beneficiaries. We now operate 2 Community Kitchens, 1 at Altrincham Market on Central Way and the other in Manchester city centre on Hanover Street. Meals cooked at our Community Kitchens are distributed on rotation to 15 partner foodbank and sheltered accommodation sites across the North West.
Since 2014 our social enterprise has taught 12,500+ people how to cook, including stroke survivors, young carers, foodbank beneficiaries and elderly people living in sheltered accommodation. We have also secured 25,000+ donations to foodbanks and generated over 285,000 meals for people in need via our catering, community meal drives, cookery workshops and Community Kitchen operations.
