About this Event
LOSING A HOME: The Workshop Series
Presented as part of Losing a Home, this programme brings together a series of artist-led workshops running across the exhibition period. Developed in collaboration with House of Annetta as part of the Whitechapel gallery Backyard Biennial: East, the workshops extend the exhibition’s themes into a live, participatory space, inviting audiences to engage more deeply with ideas of memory, displacement, domestic space and collective care.
Led by a range of visual artists, poets and curators; including Natalie Charles, Ikesha Avo, Barbara Majek, Paul Majek, Akilah Chambers, Peter Miller, Sophia Kaur Hambleton-Grey, Lalah-Simone Springer, Heera Gul, Rita Majek, Tobi Falade and Kiah Sandler.
The programme reflects the collaborative and family-based ethos at the core of the exhibition. Each session offers a distinct approach, spanning storytelling, drawing, poetry, film, and material based practices, while collectively exploring memory as a living archive embedded within space. Creating opportunities for shared reflection, making and conversation. They aim to activate the domestic setting of House of Annetta, encouraging meaningful engagement with both the exhibition and the space itself.
Together, the workshops form an extension of Losing a Home- not just as a site of display, but as a space for gathering, learning and collective experience.
