Celebrate the holiday season with Juno Award-winning artist Loreena McKennitt and her enchanting Under A Winter’s Moon concert, a live performance of carols and tales blends Celtic, Indigenous, and Welsh cultures. The show also includes Gemini Award-winning actor Cedric Smith narrating the magical A Child’s Christmas in Wales and begins with Ojibway artist Christin Dennis, also known as Gzhiiquot/Fast Moving Cloud, presenting the story of Skywoman.
Performing with Ms. McKennitt are Caroline Lavelle on cello and recorders, Ojibway artist and flautist Jeffrey “Red” George, and members of the Celtic group The Bookends, including Errol Fischer on fiddle, Pete Watson on guitar and bouzouki, Cait Watson on Irish whistle, and Romano DiNillo as guest percussionist. Prepare to be transported to a world of music and spoken word that connects with our past and awakens the spirit of the season with such favourites as “Coventry Carol,” “Good King Wenceslas,” and the “Huron Carol.”
Loreena McKennitt’s eclectic Celtic blend of pop, folk, and world music has sold over 14 million albums worldwide. Her recordings have achieved Gold, Platinum, and multi-Platinum status in 15 countries on four continents. She has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award and has won two Juno Awards, as well as a Billboard International Achievement Award. In 2004, McKennitt was awarded the Order of Canada and in 2013 was appointed Knight of the National Order of Arts and Letters of the Republic of France.
