About this Event
This walking tour showcases a variety of well-designed social housing developments in the Upper Street area.
We'll visit impressive Victorian, Edwardian and pre-WWII dwellings made possible by innovative benefactors and independent housing trusts as well as early London County Council estates and Islington council's more recent schemes. It's a delightful route that always surprises.
Find out how the philanthropists could afford this, learn about the architects behind the schemes, and see how these cleverly-designed and solidly-built constructions continue to evoke a sense of pride and well-being.

My guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends. The walks and talks I offer are all on subjects that intrigue me and each one highlights a different facet of my personality. I am particularly interested in the architecture of our ever-changing streets and the little details on and above them. For more information, please visit www.janeslondonwalks.com
