Elysium Theatre Company presents
LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT
by Eugene O'Neill
70TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR
Directed by Jake Murray
Supported by the Arts Council of England.
“The past is the present, isn’t it? It’s the future too. We all try to lie our way out of that but life won’t let us.”
Summer 1912: the Tyrones gather in the family home on the coast of New England. After years of separation they are reunited again, full of hope for the future. But as day passes into night their love will be tested to the utmost as the ghosts of the past come to haunt them and they all are drawn back into a past they hoped to escape.
Award-winning Durham theatre company Elysium TC returns to Manchester after a string of hits ('The Moth' & 'The Island' at the Lowry, 'Miss Julie' at Hope Mill and 'Jesus Hopped The A Train' at HOME) with Eugene O'Neill's masterpiece 'Long Day's Journey Into Night', one of the greatest plays ever written and probably the greatest on the American stage.
