About this Event
London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) are hosting a KS2 CPD. The session will be a hands-on creative session based on Debussy’s iconic Prelude a l’apres-midi d’un faune and using our online resources - LSO Play.
This evocative piece describes a dream, but Debussy doesn’t tell us what the dream is about so we have a perfect starting point for creativity in the classroom.
We will explore a method for listening to the piece, write responses to it and then turn these into compositions, working collaboratively in groups and using body percussion and classroom percussion instruments. This session will be supported by LSO Musicians.
This session is led by Rachel Leach. Rachel is the Lead Animateur and Artistic Advisor (schools and youth programs) to the London Symphony Orchestra’s award-winning Discovery department. Alongside this, she regularly works with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC NOW and many others. Rachel has written more pieces for the LSO than any other composer, as well as over fifteen community operas, including seven for ETO, six for Primary Shakespeare Company
Refreshments will be provided.
We use registrations to gauge interest/viability for the sessions, so please complete the Eventbrite registration to confirm if you are intending to attend.
