This series is held quarterly, featuring work in progress from our community of established and emerging writers.

Our April event will feature readings from:

Living Writing is a monthly creative writers' meetup at Leith Depot. Together we exchange prompts as a way to live into creative practice.

At our sessions, practitioners of all genres are welcome and bring a creative writing exercise that can be done in 15 minutes. We draw these prompts at random and, though we don't workshop pieces, at the end we share a brief sample of what we've written as a result of the prompts.

The Living Writing Reading Series is an opportunity for members of our community to present their work at greater length. Writers are invited to share up to 20 minutes of poetry or prose that was started at our meetups and other projects they’re working on.

Come celebrate this work with us! Family and friends are welcome, as well as newcomers interested in joining or supporting our community of writers.

These readings are held in the spirit of the oracle card drawn at our first session:

All the Willows Know Your Name

'It's such a beautiful feeling to know that you are truly seen by another or by a whole community. When you are known, accepted, and witnessed by others, you have a wonderful sense of connection and communication. You feel the grounded safety of belonging.

These are the kinds of relationships present in your life now, and they provide you with plenty of room to grow. This sense of connection rises from a space of transparency, honesty, trust, and radical self-acceptance. You naturally invite others to see you as you see yourself, in the fullness of your expression. When you shine, it comes from a true desire to share, and that is compelling and attractive to others who can appreciate you.'

(from The Dream Weaver's Oracle by Colette Baron-Reid and Joel Nakamura)
