About this Event
Living Context: Embodied Journaling Experience
Living Context is a documentary film centering Black women in conversation with their own stories — examining identity formation, expectation, and the ongoing act of self-authorship. On April 4th, we're bringing that conversation into the room with you.
What You'll Experience:
Your own journal — provided, yours to keep — and guided reflection prompts that ask the questions we don't usually slow down enough to answer. Breathwork and grounding to help you arrive fully present. Collective storytelling, shared voluntarily, at your own pace. And a canvas artifact where every person adds their own context — their word, their presence — to something that becomes part of the archive.
This event is presented in honor of International Black Women's History Month, National Minority Health Month, and National Public Health Week — because we believe the stories Black women carry are a matter of public health. And silence was never the prescription.
Light refreshments provided. Documentary filming will be taking place — participation is entirely optional and a consent process is available at the door. RSVP required. Capacity is limited.
This event is part of the Living Context documentary project, funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
