About this Event
Join the Linguistic Diversity Collective for a talk by Dr Serge Sagna, Prof. Tine Breban and Dr Simone de Cia to mark International Mother Language Day 2026.
This talk centres around the multilingual public signs found across towns and cities, and what they tell us about language domination and language policy in Manchester and beyond. Alongside Manchester, examples will come from Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Canada, Senegal and more.
This talk is presented in partnership with Creative Manchester and Manchester Museum, and is part of the Manchester City of Literature International Mother Language Day celebrations.
All are welcome.
