Life Drawing in Hackney Cinema with Sarah

Join us for a relaxed evening of untutored life drawing in the intimate attic space of Hackney Picturehouse cinema.

This session features Sarah (@sarah.lowndes) as our life model. Meet all our models. A mix of short and long poses across the 2-hour session gives you time to warm up and develop more detailed work.

• A2 recycled paper and black card
• Charcoal, chalk, pencils, pens and erasers
• Sharpeners, portable easels, boards and clips
• Complimentary refreshments

6:45 PM — Doors open, set up your workspace

7:00 PM — The session starts: warm-up gesture poses (5 × 90 sec), short poses (3 × 5 min), medium poses (2 × 10 min)

8:00 – 8:15 — Break: refreshments, chat with fellow artists and the model

8:15 – 9:00 — Second half: long poses (3 × 15 min or 1 × 20 + 1 × 25 min)

9:00 – 9:15 — Admire the artwork of the evening

• All skill levels welcome — beginners to experienced artists. No instruction or critique — just draw at your own pace
• Arrive from 6:45pm — we start promptly at 7pm
• The attic — take the stairs or lift to the top floor of the cinema. High ceilings, huge windows, central heating and air conditioning
• No photography during the session (respect the model)
• Lighting — good general illumination plus a dedicated 3m-height spotlight for strong shadows without glare
• Music — eclectic playlist on shuffle, selected for its energising drawing qualities
• Bar access — the Picturehouse bar is open before and after. Great place to wind down and socialise
• Single ticket — £12.50 advance (recommended), £15 on the door
• Five Session Draw Pass — £50 (just £10/session — save £12.50). Use across any future Tuesday, transferable to friends. Buy direct from our website
• Transfers & refunds — tickets are non-refundable but fully transferable to a friend or a future session
