This April, Double Trouble celebrates everyone's favorite cinematic pet with a night of dog centric mayhem. From government conspiracy to werewolves in the Canadian wilderness. There's something for every type of pet owner.*Man's Best Friend (1993)
Written and Directed by Child's Play 2's John Lafia. Max is a good old loveable dog. But in actuality he's a robot created by psychopathic doctor Lance Henriksen. But one night Max escapes into the home of news reporter Ally Sheedy, he grows fond of the killer dog, all while shadowy forces hunt them down. A silly yet delightful cross between Cujo and The Lawnmower Man. Fully embracing every type of dog movie cliché you could think of, while also being full of gore, violent action sequences and general madness. Probably the closest thing to family friendly fare Double Trouble will ever show.
*Bad Moon (1996)
From Eric Red, writer of The Hitcher & Near Dark. Michael Paré having suffered tragedy in the jungles of Nepal comes to visit his sister Mariel Hemingway to clear his head. But it's clear he's brought something very bad back from the jungle. The only hope is the family dog Thor. Who tries to protect his human family from the evil they've let into their home. A very underrated dog movie classic that plays like 'Rear Window' but with a Dog vs. a Werewolf. With one of the most satisfying climaxes in all of 90s horror.
