November 2024- "What's a Workflow Document"
About this Event
Let’s Make Films. It’s a simple idea. Gather a bunch of like-minds and create a network of people who want to;
1. Make film.
2. Learn how to make better films.
This session will be a gathering to; learn, network, crew, and discuss:
i. Educational Speakers - NB SPEAKER UPDATE TO THIS EVENT.
ii. Networking! What films, what film needs, what crew, what you can offer, etc, etc.
iii. Target festivals for crew.
iv. Find people who want to get involved with Let's Make Films and the events.
Many of us have been to film events in the past, but it's rare to meet writers, actors, directors, virtual production technicians, VFX artists, sound mixers, colourists etc, all in the same room.
Get your creative juices flowing and meet people across the full spectrum of filmmaking, from pre-production to post-production.

Gemma Nicholson - POST SUPER
Gemma started work in the Sound cutting rooms of massive films in early 2000s and continued a career in Sound until moving across to Post Coordinating and Supervising in 2009. In 2019 she founded Post Super which is a new venture designed to help Freelancers, Post Producers, Supervisors and Coordinators working in Film & High End Television by giving them access to four critical elements – Community, Information, Training and Tools.
The platform is designed to allow Post Producers, Supervisors and Coordinators to effectively plan and execute Post and provide a centre for the growing community to come together in forums and knowledge sharing to generate streamlined workflows, share best practice and proactively network. Gemma is currently also delivering a course for the NFTS on Post Supervision.
Presentation Title: Post Production Workflows
In this session, Post Super Co-Founder Gemma Nicholson will walk you through post production workflows for HETV and Film, including picture, sound and post management workflows. The Let's Make Films Audience
The audience that attends Let's Make Films is very varied. There are some who are well accustomed to the large stage etiquette on multi-million £$ shoots, others that are self taught shooting PDs with 20 years experince of "just getting it done in the middle of nowhere for next to nothing with no crew", and TikToking YouTubers that have to feed the social media monster demand for constant content. We have students not knowing where to specialise yet, and colourists and prop makers who know more secrets of the their trade than a spy master knows secret codes. But one thing is very sure, all of them will benefit from knowing a little more about each other and how they work.

MORE ABOUT LET'S MAKE FILMS
It’s a simple idea. Gather a bunch of like-minds and create a network of people who want to;
1. Make film.
2. Learn how to make better films.
Whether you are working on a zero budget “run-n-gun”, or a multi-million-dollar epic while harbouring those hidden desires to make your own visions, you’ll fit in.
Regular gatherings will bring together a number of opportunities for filmmakers. One of our key aims is to help support better practice in filmmaking. There will be the opportunities for free "taster" events. These may then lead to demo's, masterclasses, and workshops either via us, or via the people and companies we can point you towards. The aim is to learn about multiple aspects of filmmaking, even if you specialise in one.
- Taster sessions of higher concepts and new tech in film making
- Screenings with "Crew Interviews"
- External Screenings for Discussion
There will also be the regular filmmaking event activities such as:
- Networking
- Pitching Slots
- Film Challenges
- Script Challenges
The gathering is already starting to work with several projects spawning out of the meetings.
