Having conquered the world of R&B in the 2000s, receiving 14 Grammy nominations and charting a Billboard Top 10 album in the process, Ledisi has become a shining star in the jazz firmament, too. At the age of eight, she sang with her hometown symphony orchestra, the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra, and musical theatre also welcomed her with open arms when she performed the role of Dorothy in The Wiz. She has also portrayed both Mahalia Jackson and Gladys Knight in feature films. Her tribute album to Nina Simone earned her a Grammy Award, while her October 2025 release, Ledisi for Dinah, has likewise been met with widespread acclaim.
