Welcome to The Creative Art of Slow Stitching! Join us for a relaxing evening of meditative slow stitching at Ed’s Mercantile. This event is perfect for anyone looking to unwind from a busy week, gently ease into the next week and get in touch with their creative side. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, this is the place to be. Come and learn new hand stitching techniques and enjoy a late afternoon of mindful crafting. Don't miss out on this opportunity to slow down and connect with fellow crafters.
The first half an hour of class, spend time selecting the fabric, thread and embellisments that you would like to use and gently plan out your work. Make a cup of tea and settle in for the afternoon. When the doors close to the store at 5 pm, we'll explore different embroidery techniques and stitch work to put your piece together.
Slow stitching is closely related to visible mending techniques but the main difference is you’re working on fabric to create a separate stitched piece instead of mending directly on clothes. However, you can always add your slow stitching work to anything after you’re done. Frame it, make it into a pillow, keep going at home until you have a larger piece to turn into a quilt or sew your smaller work onto the back of your fav denim jacket. The possibilities are endless! All supplies are included but please feel free to bring in any small bits of fabric, lace, buttons etc that you would like to incorporate into your work.
