About this Event
For you that have been longing for deep spiritual connections with yourself and others Kirtan in the park is here for you.
This is a way to find freedom and joy through your voice. We do this practice by singing/ chanting a mantra in Sanskrit. This practice is called Kirtan which is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning “To praise that which is exalted”, (translation provided by kirtan artist David Newman). Krishna Das, a teacher and Kirtan guide put it this way, “People say, ‘I’m singing to the Hindu deities,’ but what does that mean? What is a deity? It's like an older, deeper, bigger being. It's a space, a presence, a feeling. These names are the names of that place inside of us that is love, pure being, pure awareness, pure joy. Kirtan—and other forms of mantra practice, such as seated meditation—help us uncover that place inside of us, our true nature.”
For this event I would like to call in those who find love and divine connection in community. All are invited to not only come but offer your voices in this love journey. All are also invited to lead in mantra by exercising love through vulnerability. Feel free to bring your own percussion, and instruments as well. There will be a drum or two available along with Kartals and shakers.
All are also invited to bring snacks, food, and drinks (non alcoholic) to enjoy and share if you choose to while we engage in community sharing and fellowship after our practice.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me via the fit degree app or email with any questions.
I look forward to sharing with you all.
