About this Event
Kevin and the collection of musicians operating under the name Telegraph have been playing for many years in the Dublin area, although events (dear boy) from covid onwardhave curtailed performances for the past number of years. The upcoming gig in Arthurs will be the first in a run of gigs in 2026 that will pave the way for the autumn release of new material. This new material will feature on March the 11thalong with familiar material from Kevin’s four solo albums and numerous records with the band Four Men and a Dog and the great Donegal fiddle player Ciaran Tourish. The songs can be filed loosely under the heading “Americana” containing as they do elements of folk, country, and blues. But they stretch beyond that convention into trad, jazz, improvisation, and faith (blind). The songs took shape and spring forth from the real and imagined landscapes and townscapes of Donegal further underpinning the Americana feel with Inishowenfoundations. This amalgam is exemplified by the song “Hawker’s Blues” which tells the story of one of Buncrana’smodest heroes, a song that was recorded by Levon Helm and appeared on The Band’s last album Jubilation. ‘Hawker’s Blues’ will feature in the concert in Arthur’s along with songs old and new and yet to be written in what could prove to be a jubilant evening.
