Kapwa Counselling Community Open House
We're opening our doors and inviting the community in.
Kapwa Counselling is turning 3 this June, and we're celebrating with a Community Open House on Pride weekend. Come browse local vendors, meet the Kapwa team, experience art and music therapy workshops led by our registered therapists, and close out the night with an open mic and karaoke.
This is a warm, welcoming, 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming space. Everyone belongs here.
What's happening:
🛍️ Local vendor market (4pm to 9pm) 👋 Meet and greet with Kapwa therapists (all evening) 🎨 Art Therapy workshop with Drea (6pm, 50 min) 🎵 Music Therapy workshop with Cynthia (7pm, 50 min) 🎤 Open mic + karaoke (8pm to 9pm)
Tickets:
General Admission: $10 Includes full event access, vendor market, meet and greet, and open mic.
Art Therapy Workshop add-on: $25 A guided 50-minute art therapy experience. No art skills needed, just curiosity.
Music Therapy Workshop add-on: $25 A guided 50-minute music therapy experience. All are welcome, no musical experience required.
A note on the workshops: These are experiential, introductory sessions, not therapy. They are designed to give you a taste of what art and music therapy feel like in a fun, low-pressure group setting.
Where: 1033 College St, Toronto, ON M6H 1A8 Street-level space with double red doors. TTC accessible. Street parking available.
About Kapwa: Kapwa Counselling is a Toronto-based group therapy practice rooted in community care, cultural responsiveness, and making mental health more accessible. Kapwa is a Filipino concept meaning shared identity. We believe mental health support should feel like coming home.

Art Therapy Introductory Workshop (15 spots, purchase as add-on)
Host: Andrea Zapata
Info: In this introductory workshop led by art therapy student Drea, participants are invited to explore self-compassion using mixed media. By playful art journaling and mindfulness exercises, we will practice shifting the way we relate to ourselves with greater kindness.
Through art making and storytelling, participants can build practical tools for self-acceptance and self-love. No artistic experience is needed. All levels of art-makers are welcome.

Music Therapy Introductory Workshop (15 spots, purchase as add-on)
Host: Cynthia Marhue
Info: Experience a gentle introduction to music therapy in a welcoming and supportive environment. Bring yourself, your voice, and an openness to explore the therapeutic use of music and self-expression.
This workshop will include a grounding experience with a singing bowl, guided vocal exploration, music listening, and a collaborative songwriting activity led by Music Therapist Cynthia Fay.
