About this Event
Join the Hazara Student Association at the University of Toronto for a special screening of KAMAY. This powerful documentary follows a family’s search for truth and justice after the tragic death of their daughter in Afghanistan. Created by Hazara filmmakers, the film offers a rare and deeply personal perspective on identity, resilience, and the lived realities of marginalized communities. The film is in Farsi with English subtitles.
This screening provides an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about representation, human rights, and the social challenges facing the Hazara community. The film also explores broader issues, including women’s rights in Afghanistan and the layered realities of justice, identity, and systemic inequality. We welcome students, faculty, and community members to come together for an evening of reflection, learning, and thoughtful conversation.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to participate in a moderated discussion. A light dinner will be provided for attendees to take home.
