Join us for our Winter Bird Educational Workshop Series, taking place at Tommy Thompson Park - Toronto's Urban Wilderness - this winter!
About this Event

Every fall, birds travel thousands of kilometers on a perilous journey to warmer climates. But many of them stay behind and brave the winter instead. Why don’t they leave when everything else does? Learn how they survive and thrive in Canada's harshest season?

The Winter Birding series is hosted by TRCA’s bander in charge and ornithologist Shane Abernethy. Shane has 7 years of ornithological experience and 3 years of banding at the Bird Research Station at TTP. He also produces the popular Feathered Friday series via TRCA Instagram.

This is a seated talk, taking place indoors at the Nature Centre at TTP.

Bring your travel mugs, all participants can enjoy complimentary coffee or hot chocolate.

Coffee is genrously provided by BirdsnBeans roastery in Etobicoke.

This event is intended for a general audience:

  • Beginner level information
  • Includes intermediate concepts
  • Content intended for older youth and adults
