Juanita MORE! Pride Beneficiary Statement, 2026
This year marks the 22nd year of the annual Juanita MORE! Pride Party. What started as an alternative event to celebrate the diversity of our community has grown into what has been touted as simply the "best party of the year." This party is one of the most significant non-profit events held during Pride weekend.
Throughout the year, I take great pleasure in seeking out some of our City’s most impactful LGBTQIA+ organizations to serve as beneficiaries for events I help organize. With the community's help, we have raised over $1.5 million over the past three decades. I cannot thank everyone enough for all your contributions over the years.
This year, for my annual Pride event, I have chosen theGLBT Historical Society as the beneficiary. The GLBT Historical Society collects, preserves, exhibits, and makes accessible to the public materials and knowledge to support and promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ history, culture, and arts in all their diversity. Founded in 1985, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) Historical Society is internationally recognized as a leader in LGBTQIA+ public history.
At this moment in time, the history and rights of the LGBTQIA+ community are under threat. The current administration has implemented various policies attacking our community, including banning transgender individuals from military service, rolling back protections against discrimination in healthcare, and promoting executive orders that restrict gender-affirming care. These actions have been described as part of a broader anti-LGBTQ movement. Recently, the National Park Service was directed to remove the Pride flag at the Stonewall National Monument in New York City.
The work of institutions like the GLBT Historical Society - not just to preserve our history, but to use that history as a lens through which to understand the challenges of the present - is as important as ever. Creating these spaces and maintaining the archives are critical tools for inspiring future generations to advocate for social justice.Loads of Love, Juanita
Founded in 1985, the GLBT Historical Society is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Federal Tax Identification Number is 94-2989004.
