Class 1: Lab Safety & The Invisible World
Before you can master the lab, you have to master the gear and proper hand wahsing!
Perfect for flu and colds season, use your skills not only in the lab but also to keep you safe and healthy during this season!
Join us for a Safety Scavenger Hunt and learn to gear up like a pro in personal protective equipment.
But here’s the real challenge: The Dirty Gloves & Hands Test.
- We’re using professional petri dishes to reveal the invisible microbes living on your hands. You’ll test your hand-washing skills against "The Unwashed" to see who—or what—is really growing there. The Reveal: After 7 days of incubation, we’ll send you digital photos of your microbial "pets" to see if you mastered the good hand washing technique.
- We will teach you to take off gloves properly and challenge you to take off your dirty gloves, covered in special (safe) lotion, without getting a smidge of the lotion on your skin.
This is a small group class! We take only 6 students to allow for great discussions, attention to students and a safe lab environment.
