Discover the remarkable story of John Florio (1553–1625) – teacher, translator, and one of Elizabethan England’s great language pioneers. Florio brought the richness of Italian culture to English readers and helped shape the words we use today. This talk by writer Mary Penman explores his fascinating life and his groundbreaking Italian English dictionaries, in particular his 1611 publication: "Queen Anna's World of Words", a copy of which is in Guildhall Library's historic collection.
