Jay Rodriguez is a visionary multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger whose distinctive voice has made him one of music's most sought-after artists—equally commanding as a bandleader and sideman. A three-time Grammy nominee and founding member of NYC's legendary Groove Collective, Jay has shared stages with icons including James Brown, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews, and Isaac Hayes, and backed Tupac Shakur at the MTV Awards. His versatility spans jazz, funk, soul, and pop, collaborating with an extraordinary range of talent from musical legends to contemporary pop artists. For 30 years, Jay has been an integral force shaping New York City's sonic landscape, contributing vital compositions, arrangements, and solos that define the city's musical identity. His achievements are immortalized in the prestigious "Encyclopedia of Jazz" by Leonard Feather and Ira Gitler. Jay continues to compose and perform with uncompromising passion and artistry.

essive roster of jazz legends including Art Blakey, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, Joe Henderson, and Steve Turre, among many others. His work with visionary artists like Henry Threadgill, Randy Weston, and Billy Harper demonstrates his ability to adapt to diverse musical philosophies while maintaining his distinctive voice. Beyond performance, Eddie has recorded, composed, and arranged for luminaries such as Etta Jones, Mongo Santamaria, and Lester Bowie, showcasing his multifaceted talents as both interpreter and creator.

Today, Eddie leads multiple ensembles that reflect his compositional vision and musical breadth. He directs quartets and quintets exploring contemporary jazz, a Latin/Brazilian project celebrating rhythmic traditions, and large ensembles that tackle complex arrangements.
