About this Event
About this event
We’re Floating Art, a small arts business with over 7 years of experience helping people learn to paint in a fun, relaxed way.
Led by practicing artist Ula Fung, with support from Ryan, our workshops are designed to combine creativity, learning, and enjoyment—so you leave with both a finished piece and new skills.
Japanese Painting Workshop (Nihonga 日本画)
Our flagship workshop is perfect for both art lovers and fans of Japanese culture.
You’ll learn the basics of Nihonga, a traditional Japanese painting style, using authentic materials including:
- Bamboo brushes
- Sumi ink
- Gansai Tambi (顔彩耽美) mineral colours
- Gold leaf
- Rice paper
We’ll provide a wide range of seasonal references inspired by both classic and contemporary Japanese artists.
This workshop focuses on creating your own artwork, not just copying—while guiding you step-by-step through the process.
Who is it for?
Beginner-friendly and suitable for all levels.
Most of our students haven’t painted in years, so don’t worry if it’s your first time.
