Summer has officially begun! Prepare for the sunny days ahead by creating your very own "fan of the summer" in this hands-on workshop dedicated to the art of Japanese fan painting.
In this session, each guest will paint a foldable fan inspired by the aesthetics of the Japanese festival, Aoi Matsuri. Whether you’re an artist at heart or simply looking for a serene way to spend an afternoon, this class invites you to express yourself through the delicate lens of Japanese heritage.
Sip on premium Japanese green tea and enjoy light seasonal snacks while immersing yourself in the symbols, traditions, and refined beauty of Kyoto’s history.

A Note on Aoi Matsuri
The Aoi Matsuri, or "Hollyhock Festival," is one of Kyoto’s oldest and most prestigious festivals. Dating back over a millennium, it features a magnificent procession to honor the Kamo Shrines. The festival is named after the Futaba Aoi (heart-shaped hollyhock leaves) used to decorate the participants and shrines. This workshop honors this "festival of the spirit" through art and mindfulness, celebrating Japanese culture with respect and curiosity.

- Skill Level: Beginner-friendly
- Class Size: 4–12 participants
- Duration: Approx. 2 hours
- What to Wear: Comfortable clothing (aprons will be provided, but ink can be tricky!)
- Pricing: Price is per person. Each guest must have their own ticket, or you can purchase the two-ticket special.
- BYOB: Welcome (if you'd like to bring a specific beverage to enjoy with your snacks).
