Remote Delivery Information and Requirements:
University of Idaho Extension, in collaboration with the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, will be presenting this Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training course entirely online, remotely via Zoom. The training will be presented over two days, for four hours each day (9:30 AM - 2:00 PM MST). Participants must be present for the entire duration of the training to receive credit. The cost of the online training is covered by grant funding and is free for growers.
PLEASE NOTE: Training is only available to those residing in the United States and territories. International participants please contact the Produce Safety Alliance for information on how to access training. https://producesafetyalliance.cornell.edu/training/grower-training-courses/upcoming-grower-trainings/
To be successful in this training, participants must be able to engage through video and audio throughout both days of the training. This requires access to a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet with audio / video capabilities. We are required to monitor participant engagement throughout the duration of the training course to confirm attendance and to issue a certificate of completion. If a participant requiring this training does not have the capability to satisfactorily attend the training online, please contact University of Idaho Extension at least four weeks prior to the start of the course to discuss alternate arrangements for attendance. Email Ariel Agenbroad at [email protected] or call (208) 287-5900.
A week before the course begins, we will mail each participant hard-copy course materials, Zoom instructions, agendas and course details. We will also provide a link for an optional scheduled check-in before the course begins for participants to test their equipment and ask questions.
Because this course is offered via Zoom, UI and ISDA have prioritized offering this course at no cost for Idaho growers. Due to limited capacity, please do not register for the course unless you are certain you can attend. In the event that something comes up and prevents you from attending, as things often do, please contact Ariel Agenbroad at [email protected], so we can free up your seat for someone else to benefit from the course. If your farm is out of state, contact us for availability.
This eight (8) hour, two-day online Grower Training Course will cover key areas and requirements of the Produce Safety Rule including:
1. Introduction to Produce Safety
2. Worker Health, Hygiene, and Training
3. Soil Amendments
4. Wildlife, Domesticated Animals, and Land Use
5. Agricultural Water
6. Post-harvest Handling and Sanitation
7. How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan
Note: Course materials and certificates are included with registration. The cost associated with manuals and certificates is sponsored in full by a grant from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
