NEW EXHIBITION OPENS AT HYATT CENTRIC Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with two InLiquid Artist Members

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 25th, 2025) – Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia, the upscale lifestyle hotel in Rittenhouse Square, is continuing its annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with the opening of this exhibition. Curated by InLiquid, featuring the work of two Philadelphia-based artists: Jaime Alvarez and Marta Sanchez. The exhibit runs from August 25th – November 10th, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 25th from 5:30 – 7:00p.


The public is invited to celebrate the opening of this exhibition at the September 25 reception from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, where guests can enjoy complimentary light bites from Patchwork Restaurant and pay-as-you-go cocktails from the adjacent bar. All artwork on view will be available for purchase.

Artist Statement

Jaime Alvarez is a photographer and artist born and raised in Puerto Rico.

His work ranges in content but at its core it deals with how people relate to place and objects through environmental and sustainability concerns.  

In 2019, Jaime began self publishing small books titled “Fishtown Daily”, which follows the everyday views of the neighborhood that is rapidly going through rapid developments.

Other projects Jaime has worked on include “Consumption” which is composed of large scale images and an installation portion that includes objects that have been discarded from homes that have been demolished in the Philadelphia area. These images and objects reflect peoples materialism, and sense of nostalgia.


Artist Biography

   Jaime Alvarez is an artist living and working in Philadelphia. Born in Puerto Rico, Jaime moved to the United States in 1997 to study at the Rhode Island School of Design. After 2003, and spending two years working in New York as an assistant for various photographers, and volunteering in spaces such as the International Center of Photography, Jaime moved to Michigan to study at the Cranbrook Academy of Art for his MFA in Photography.

    Most of Jaime’s work tells the story of places and objects with the essence of humanity. He uses photographic process, and installation to help guide the viewer through his ideas.     

   Since 2005 Jaime has been working in Philadelphia, and exhibiting through out the United States, Canada, and Puerto rico. His works have been collected by notable organizations such as Comcast, Drexel University, Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin Texas, and other private collectors.


Marta Sanchez

Artist Bio

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Chicana painter Marta Sanchez has been inspired by traditional Mexican folkloric art expressions and contemporary issues. Her works on paper are mostly linocuts and monotypes, which follow the social and cultural traditions of Mexican and Chicano/a Art. Her paintings are mainly on tin or aluminum. The materials, scale, and issues connect to present day concerns.Her work is in the collections of private individuals, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, El Museo del Barrio NY, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, The Woodmere Art Museum, The McNay Art Museum, The Fine Art Museum of St. Petersburg, Florida, The National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, the University of Texas at Austin and various university throughout the country. Marta’s work is part of actor/director Cheech Marin’s extensive private collection of Chicano art, which is now housed at “The Cheech” Riverside Museum, Riverside CA.


Marta earned an MFA in painting from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University, and a BFA in painting from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for over seventeen years. She teaches at St. Joseph University and the Woodmere Art Museum, is on the board for The Print Center and works as Special Events Coordinator for the Brandywine Workshop and Archive in Philadelphia. She is co-founder of the grassroots organization “Cascarones Por La Vida,” which assists families affected by HIV/AIDS. Her work is currently archived at the Benson Latin American Collection at the University of Texas at Austin.
