About this Event
Curious about trail running but not sure where to start? Join CYAN and Strides Canmore for a relaxed, low-pressure introduction to getting off the pavement and onto the trails. This session is all about building confidence, learning the basics, and enjoying time outside at a comfortable pace.
This event is designed for beginners and anyone new to trail running, but it’s also a great fit if you’re looking to ease back into running or meet others to get outside with. No prior trail experience is needed - just a willingness to give it a try.
You’ll start with a quick overview covering essential tips like trail running essentials, nutrition and fueling, learn-to-run guidance, followed by a guided group run on nearby trails. The focus is on learning as you go, with plenty of stops for guidance, questions, and regrouping. Expect a supportive, conversational pace rather than a workout-focused session.
The session takes place outdoors on local Canmore trails, starting from a central meeting point at Strides. Expect uneven terrain, fresh air, and mountain views, with time spent both standing and moving at an easy pace. The route will head toward the Engine Bridge, then up the Hydro Stairs to the reservoir - a fun loop with a little bit of everything!
Your registration includes a Trail Running Essentials kit from Strides, guidance from experienced runners, along with a welcoming group environment and the chance to connect with others. You will also receive a coupon for 10% in-store purchases at Strides Canmore.
Please come dressed for the weather with comfortable running or trail shoes, and bring water. Layers are recommended, and you may want a small pack or belt for essentials.
This is an outdoor, active event that involves uneven terrain and light physical exertion. Participants should feel comfortable walking or jogging for short intervals. If you have concerns or questions regarding accessibility, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
