About this Event
Each IPSC participant is allocated ONE FREE IPSC guest ONLY. This is due to the growth in the competition and a smaller capacity as we are simultaneously hosting the International Council Meeting in London.
The International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC) is the largest public speaking competition in the world, organised by the English-Speaking Union, a global educational charity with branches in over 50 countries. The ESU is dedicated to helping young people develop essential communication skills including public speaking, listening, debating and constructive dialogue, while fostering confidence, cross-cultural understanding and international friendships.
Now in its 46th year, the IPSC engages over 100,000 young people across more than 40 countries. The international finals week in London brings together national champions aged 16 to 20 for a unique experience that combines competition with cultural exchange.
As a guest, you are invited to attend two key days of the finals week, showcasing both prepared and impromptu speaking.
- Semi-finals: Thursday, 16 July 2026 at Dartmouth House
The semi-finals feature two rounds:
The impromptu speech in the morning, where competitors receive a theme 15 minutes in advance and deliver a three-minute speech.
The prepared speech in the afternoon, where competitors present a five-minute speech on a pre-assigned theme, followed by a short question and answer session with the audience.
At the end of the day, judges select the top six speakers to progress to the grand final.
- Grand final: Friday, 17 July 2026 at the Royal Institution
In the grand final, finalists deliver a new five-minute prepared speech on a set theme, followed by audience questions. This event celebrates the very best young speakers from around the world.
Attending the IPSC finals offers a unique opportunity to witness outstanding communication skills, engage with our international community and to be part of this inspiring global event.
Each IPSC participant is allocated ONE FREE IPSC guest ONLY .
