John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York is pleased to host the fourth International Coercive Control Conference (ICCC) in partnership with Engendered Collective, the original founders of this conference. The theme for ICCC 2026 is: "Founding Principles and New Directions in Coercive Control: In Honor of the Legacy of Evan Stark." Evan Stark, the founding father of the construct of coercive control in its current form, passed away in 2024. One of Dr. Stark’s primary goals was to amplify the global awareness of coercive control in all its manifestations. Today, we recognize that coercive control can occur in queer or heterosexual intimate partnerships, cult settings, as a component of commercial sexual exploitation, in the workplace, in terrorist organizations, and in gangs. Honoring Dr. Stark’s legacy, we will hear innovative ideas and insights from a diverse array of practitioners, policy makers, researchers, survivors, activists, and advocates to foster meaningful dialogue and drive actionable solutions.
