Shogi teaching professional 4 Dan Yasushi Ishikawa is running a 2 day tournament in Twickenham, London on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May 2026. The event is open to players of all abilities and all nationalities.The Inter City Shogi Cup format has been developed to promote the growth of shogi in Europe. Initial play will be in groups determined by Elo rating. Qualifying players will then compete in knockout games that can be played at handicaps reflecting rating differences. There will be a U15 class championship for lower rated players under 15 years old. The event will be co-hosted by The Japan Society and Kohtaro Hirota, and with help from the London Shogi Club. The event is being held with support from the Federation of European Shogi Associations (FESA).
There will also be a teaching workshop for beginners on Sunday 10th May, and the event will conclude with teaching games with professionals Yasushi Ishikawa and Tetsuaki Sanada.
