Kathryn Adams, an instructor at OCAD University, will explain how intellectual property (IP) works for creatives. This presentation has a strong emphasis on visual arts (illustrators, photographers, painters, graphic designers, sculptors, craftspeople), and is of interest to other art forms. Presentation includes copyright, how it works in Canada and abroad, terminology and licensing. The presentation touches on upon rapid advances in digital technology that impact visual artists and their ability to retain rights to what they create, including AI, NFTs, and social media.
