ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Having taken a break from the industry. Jay Briggs is about to make a return with a new collection “Domina”. This selection of headpieces which was chosen by DCC is a retrospect of his previous works, with each headpiece coming from a different collection, ranging from his graduate collection “Malleus Maleficarum” which was shown at Graduate Fashion week in 2013, when he graduated with a BA Hons in Fashion design from the University of Salford, before moving to London to start his journey in headpieces. It was while he undertook a 6 months internship during university that he got to work with the incredible milliner Piers Atkinson whom he gained invaluable experience from, but above all making him understand that everything you can imagine is real. He is predominantly self taught having come from a fashion design background, which gives him a different perspective over traditional millinery techniques. Jay Briggs has stunned both the UK and international press industry with his beautiful yet theatrical handmade headpieces. His design ethos captivates the empowerment of the wearer, yet combine elements of a dark twisted fairytale gaining inspiration from history, folk law and mythology, with the use of exclusive and unconventional materials including taxidermy. Jay has shown collections at both London and Paris fashion weekend collaborated with Selfridges on their 2015, 2016 and 2017 Christmas window display, along with producing a one off piece for Eastpak His work has also been exhibited at the Modemuseum Hsasseit exhibition “Haute-a-porter”. More recently his works has been in the Boux Avenue 2023 Halloween campaign “Goddess of the night”.
Jays headpieces have graced the pages of British Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue Russia, Vogue Sposa, ELLE Serbia, HarpersBazaar India, V magazine, Wonderland, Schon, Vision China and Mia Le Journal. They have also appeared on SHOWstudio. Jay has created pieces for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Paloma Faith, Daphne Guinness Kimbra, Laura Mvula and Dr Colleen Darnell.
