About this Event

Time: 19:00 - 21:00, Friday 6 February 2026

Location: Centre 151, Whiston Rd, London E2 8GU

Cost: Pay what you can, suggestion: £6 -12

This is a two-hour workshop of guided improvised movement. You are welcome if you have never danced before or if you are an experienced professional.

We will play, explore and get into our bodies through simple, joyful movement. There will be no choreography. The workshop is a space to connect with ourselves, others and the environment around us. To be playful and be present by being in our bodies. In the workshop we will:

  • Connect with our bodies
  • Connect with the space around us through the five senses
  • Connect with others
  • Find ways to put all that we discover together

What to bring

Bring yourself, a water bottle and comfortable clothing. Recommend wearing trousers in case we do floorwork.

Feel free to come alone or with friends. If you come alone, do not worry - you will meet people!

A bit about me

I got into dancing at a relatively late age for dancers (30). I was going to yoga classes and doing movement workshops for actors. I loved doing yoga, but I wanted more expression and freedom to move. So, I sheepishly rocked up to a dance class and took it from there. The thing that really fuelled my passion for dance was improvised movement alone and with others. The buzz of moving how you wish and having fun with it.

My dance experience includes improv, contemporary dance, physical theatre, contact improvisation and mixed movement. My passion is to use playful movement to help others to connect with their own bodies and to find deeper connections with others.

By day I work in an office, so I know what it is like to have a body that feels stiff and I also know the feeling of turning up to a workshop where it feels like everyone else is far more flexible, confident and experienced.

There's a widely believed myth that only some people can dance. This is not about technique - it's about finding joy in our bodies.
