About this Event
Overview
A deep dive into the art of connection, authenticity, and character legacy. We’ll master the intimacy of the two-person scene before expanding into a world of recurring characters in a classic longform format.
Workshop Overview
Join guest teacher, Second City's as she brings her high-energy, supportive expertise to Barcelona for a full-day intensive!
We will split our day between two core pillars of theatrical improv. First, we’ll tackle the "Two-Hander," focusing on the quiet power of truth and connection. Then, we’ll shift gears into character creation, learning how to build distinct, memorable "people" that can inhabit the interconnected world of a La Ronde.
Whether you are looking to ground your scenes in reality or find more joy in character play, this workshop provides a toolkit for sustainable, fearless improvisation.
Part 1 – The Heart of the Matter: Two-Hander Scenework
In this session, we strip away the noise and focus on the person standing right in front of you. You’ll learn strategies to slow down, breathe, and find the "truth of the moment." By prioritizing connection over "bits," you’ll discover how authentic emotional offers can lift a scene higher than any pre-planned joke ever could.
Part 2 – People & Patterns: Character & La Ronde
Spend the afternoon building a "closet" of characters you can step into at a moment's notice. We’ll focus on physical and vocal development before applying these skills to La Ronde—a classic longform format that is accessible to all skill levels. You’ll explore how characters evolve when they interact with different partners, creating a rich, rotating tapestry of stories.
