Art+Object is pleased to present the first Important Paintings & Contemporary Art catalogue for 2026.The catalogue contains a wonderful survey of fine New Zealand art from the early 1900s to more recent times. Including three magnificent paintings by Charles Goldie, a rarely-seen Thorndon painting by Rita Angus, significant bronze sculptures by Paul Dibble, Jim Allen, Barry Lett and Terry Stringer, and paintings and photography by this country’s leading practitioners.
The catalogue also includes superb photographs by Ans Westra, Laurence Aberhart, Peter Peryer and Dr Fiona Pardington. Brian Duffy’s Aladdin Sane – Full Contact Sheet from the 1973 Session is an iconic work from his collaboration with David Bowie and includes one of the most career-defining photographs of the musician. Contemporary female artists are well represented in this auction with excellent examples by Saskia Leek, Imogen Taylor and Francis Upritchard.
Please join us to preview the catalogue on Thursday, 19 March, 5pm–7pm | 3 Abbey Street, Newton, Auckland 1010. We will be serving fine wines, organically produced by our partners, Seresin Estate, as well as champagne by Taittinger, and Scapegrace drinks. The artworks will then be on view every day until the auction on Wednesday, 25 March, at 6pm. See below for detailed viewing hours.
The auction will be conducted live in our Newton saleroom. For those unable to attend the auction, online bidding available is available here or you can download our bidding app from the App Store or Google Play. You can also place regular absentee or phone bids.
